At five-minute drive distance from our Yamanashi house, an open set for filming a year-long series of TV drama, "Fu-Lin-Ka-Zan (*)" of NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) has been built and it has become a tourist spot. Unless the drama is being filmed, it is open to public with an entrance fee. *) "Fu-Lin-Ka-Zan" is an abbreviation of a Chinese phrase meaning "Fast as wind (Fu), calm as forest (Lin), invasive as fire (Ka), and stable as mountain (Zan)", and is an innermost secret in the art of warfare. The drama portrays Kansuke Yamamoto, a strategist serving a feudal warlord, Shingen Takeda, in the 16th Century. Takeda used this phrase in his war banner.

Front gate of the castle of Nobutora Takeda, Shingen's father. The stone wall is made of stones digged out from the construction work of the structure. As this site is located in the southern foot of a volcano, Yatsugatake", you will find such stones wherever you dig. This bothers me in my gardening work.
In the early period of the Civil War time in Japan, stone walls were coarse as this.
The side slope of the road leading to the gate, which would not seen in TV, is left touched.

「風林火山館」
セカンドハウスから車で５分ほどの所にＮＨＫ大河ドラマ「風林火山」のオープンセットが出来て、観光名所になっています。撮影をする日を除いて入場料を取って公開しています。
武田信虎の館の大手門。石垣の石はこのセットを造成する時に出て来たものを利用。この辺りは八ヶ岳の南麓で少し地面を掘るとこの様な火山性の石がゴロゴロ出てきます。我がセカンドハウスのガーデニングでも苦労しています。
戦国時代もこの時期はまだこの様に粗い積み方だったのだそうです。
テレビには映らない大手門に導く道の斜面は土盛りをしただけ。
